There's a really interesting article on Slate this week, by Daniel Gross, which talks about the new trend of consumers getting content when and where they want it. Excerpt: "Throughout the sprawling mediasphere, content windows are getting smashed, broken, and kicked in. Consumers, enabled by technology, are demanding to wolf down their media the way they want it, and when they want it."
The article deals mostly with the film business, but he also makes some interesting points about the publishing industry. And while I agree with him on numerous things, I of course resist his idea of the publishing industry being completely backwards (and hey, I think he's just jealous of our half-day Fridays in the summer).
